Spray Painted Striped Candy Jar + Pre-Birthday Post

Yeah yeah. I know its been a while but anyone who knows me knows that end of the quarter activities in my office is a killer. Anyways, on to better news. My boss has these beautiful jars in her office where stores all kinds of candy. She added another jar to her collection recently and  got me one as well…yay…go boss!

Well you know I had try out something. Here was a beautiful canvas and my hands were just itching. So I was browsing the internet for inspiration and came across this project by Darby Smart and said ‘why not?’

What You’ll Need

  • Candy jar
  • Spray paint (I used gold and yellow)
  • Painter’s tape

1. Cover the spaces you do not want painted with painter’s tape. Press down the tape properly to ensure that no paint seeps through.

2. Take your jar outside and spray light and evenly round the jar. Really, it’s that easy.

What was not so easy was spraying on  another colour. Thankfully, I had decided beforehand to paint the yellow above the gold. So after the gold paint had dried, I covered the painted areas with a nylon bag and taped off the other unpainted areas, leaving only the section where I wanted to apply the yellow.  Then I left it to dry.

I think it turned out OK, don’t you? Its sitting pretty on my office desk, full of candy. I mean what’s the life of a beautiful spray painted candy jar without candy, right?

I’m trying my hands on hand painted glass and porcelain using different paint mediums. I’ll let you know how that goes and will post pictures as well.

By the way, I turn 30 tomorrow…yay….urghh….yay. Yeah, I have conflicting emotions about that. I am excited, trust me and I’m for where I am and who I’ve become. But I can’t help feeling if I’ve done enough; if I am enough. Well enough of that for now (hahaha, that was not intentional). I’ll see you tomorrow (or the day after) and hopefully, I’ll have enough pictures to fill you in on the details.

I would really appreciate it if you follow my blog (button is to your left) and do remember to share this project (and many others) with your friends.

Wishing you all the love and happiness in the world.

Lots of love,
