Get Your Bling On – DIY Bejeweled Chain Necklace

So I’ve been playing around with the idea of a bejeweled necklace for a while now (since January actually) and was unsure how it would turn out since I’ve run out of E6000 glue (sobs) and didn’t think any other glue would hold up. Anyways I decided to give it a go and here we are. Tada….crowd applause…flashing camera lights…hehehe

Don’t you just love how it adorns my neck and looks pretty expensive too. Not to worry, it’s really quick and easy (as I like most of my projects to be) ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Curb chain
  • Sew-on gemstones
  • Glue
  • End clasps

1. Cut out the curb chain to your desired length. Don’t make it too long so that it sits well on your neck with the gemstones on top. You might wanna try it on first before attaching the stones. Also, make sure you use curb chain because it has a flat surface where the back of the stones can rest. Attach the end clasps andย  lay the chain flat on your work surface. Yeah, I had to work with my laptop table ๐Ÿ˜‰

2. Decide where you are going to start attaching the stones. I started 8 links after one end of the necklace and stopped 8 links before the other end. Apply glue to the back of a gemstone and attach the stone to the first chain link. Leave the 2nd and 3rd links blank and attach a gemstone to the 4th link. Now I started with the Bostik glue and changed my mind because it said to dry for 24 hours and I just couldn’t wait. So I switched to UHU Power because it dries instantly. Impatient me, yeah?ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

3. Repeat until you have attached the desired number of stones leaving 2 links between each stone. You may use a single color or you might wanna play with different colors – I used black and amber yellow.

It looks really lovely and I’ve got so many great compliments, I kinda wear it every day now. Somebody stop me (in Jim Carrey’s voice). Ok really, I need to stop….lol

I’m gonna make them in many different color combinations and put them up for sale. Hmmm…. I might even use these stones to make them. And then maybe some bracelets.ย  Hit me up if you are interested.

What’s your favourite color combination? Do let me know in the comments section – it would mean the world to hear from you ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I love it! A great idea and I love all of them. I think a tri color of pastels would be pretty too.
Gonna look around some more at your other projects.
