Read: Jeremiah. 3:14-25
“Turn, O backsliding children saith the Lord for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion” (Jer. 3:14).
God urges His wayward children to return home and promises to bring them back from wherever He scattered them. That is still His message to all who have strayed from His path. Often we reject those who have backslidden, but God still calls them to return to Him. God will give them leaders who will guide them with wisdom in His ways. How do we lead those God has placed in our charge; in His wisdom or in our own thoughts and ways?
How amazing is the love of a father for his wayward son as displayed by King David! Absalom’s main plan was to kill his father at all cost so he would replace him as king. In the midst of all these, the king was very concerned that no harm should come to his rebellious son. He hated Absalom’s rebellion, of course, but he did not cease to love him as his son (2Sam. 18:1-18).
David’s example is a pointer to how God hates our sins, but loves sinners like you and me. He longs for us to forsake our rebellion so that we should not perish, but return to the welcoming arms of a loving Heavenly Father.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to turn back to you so that I may please you and fulfill your will for my life.
